Working With the HIVE

As a HIVE employee (Help develop Instructional resources, Video and Educational media) with Mines Online, you are part of a team of students dedicated to helping the Mines campus with video production and course creation. The work for HIVE Instructional Media Developers includes editing instructional videos for faculty, staff, and students, as well as assisting with appointments for the recording studios, equipment checkouts, and live filming. The responsibilities of HIVE Junior Instructional Designers include developing courses tailored for working professionals.

We are currently looking for HIVE Instructional Media Developers and HIVE Junior Instructional Designers to join our team! Instructional Media Developers spend the majority of their time editing instructional videos using Adobe Premiere. Junior Instructional Designers will spend much of their time working in Thought Industries Learning Management System. Training is provided, typically taking about a month, so we do look for a more long-term commitment.

We work in an open office space in the Trefny Center. Work is usually self-paced to meet project deadlines. Hours are flexible, but available hours are Monday-Friday, 8am – 5 pm.

The ideal HIVE team member has:
•   a keen eye for detail and an ability to think critically
•   an interest in film and video editing or course development.
•   excellent organizational and time management skills
•   the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, track and update work using project management software
•   a high level of self-motivation, commitment, and dedication
•   good communication skills, both written and oral
•   the ability to listen to others and to work well as part of a team
•   a proactive approach to work and conflict resolution
•   3.0 GPA; grad date one year from now or later
